As the country’s pioneer and leading educational institution for Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) once again blazes a new trail in the industry with the offering of new courses Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science, as well as Bachelor of Science in Industrial Security Management. The permit to offer the two programs was granted to PCCR by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) after their recent Remote Evaluation and Inspection of the Quiapo-based institution.

Leading the Remote Evaluation and Inspection Team was CHED National Capital Region Educational Supervisor Dr. Renato A. Villegas together with Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) members Dr. Mandy Gonzales and Dr. Rodolfo Bautista. In full attendance through Zoom conferencing, the PCCR Organizational Unit Heads were led by President Ma. Angelica Lei G. Bautista and Executive Vice President Karim L. Bangcola.

The CHED grant permits PCCR to offer the two new programs as complementary and allied courses to its flagship program, Bachelor of Science in Criminology, which equips its graduates with the right tools and skills to succeed in the field of Law Enforcement. Where BS Criminology provides a generic coverage of Law Enforcement and Public Safety courses leading to a career in Criminological Research, Crime Prevention, Correctional Administration, and the Academe, the two new programs offer a more specific and innovative approach to the Criminal Justice Industry.

Applying scientific methodologies and principles to the fields of Law and Criminal Justice, The Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science (BS FS) program aims to equip its graduates with the right skills and knowledge toward a career as Crime Scene Investigators, Forensic Analysts, or as Medicolegal Expert. Graduates of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Security Management (BS ISM), on the other hand, will be prepared to assume supervisory and managerial duties in which they will apply principles and methods of security and risk management. Aside from potential employment in the Critical Infrastructures Sector and Law Enforcement, among the many fields of employment for the program are in Corporate Security as Credit and Fraud Investigator, Risk Control, System Integrator Specialist, and Training Officer.

Pursuant to the goals stated in CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) 48 series of 2012 for BS FS and CMO 6 series of 2018 for BS ISM, PCCR aims to develop its students to be globally competitive and at par with international standards. Coupled with innovations in academic approach and student experience, the new programs offered help to cement PCCR’s legacy as the premiere college in Criminal Justice education.
