MANILA, Philippines – Capping off Dulaang PCCR’s 2023-2024 season was the staging of the “Dis-Konek” trilogy, a powerful theatrical production featuring Imuthis’s “Bonak Kids” (inspired by Teatro ni Juan’s original work), Alvin Dacanay’s “Eyeball,” and Eunee Pacifico’s “Latency” (based on a story by Isaac Feralla and Sean Macaraeg).

Imuthis’s “Bonak Kids” is part of Dulaang PCCR’s trilogy “Dis-Konek”

With musical arrangements by senior Criminology student Yzekiel Camahalan and direction, additional script, and original songs by Dulaang PCCR Artistic Director Mark Aranal, the trilogy delved into poverty, mental health, trauma, recovery, and the significance of support systems in overcoming personal struggles

The Dulaang PCCR ensemble brought these narratives to life in a week-long run from March 18 to 22, 2024, filling the PCCR Audio-Visual Theater to capacity in all its performances at 10 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM.

With its thought-provoking themes and compelling performances, “Dis-Konek” marked a fitting finale to Dulaang PCCR’s season, reinforcing the power of theater in storytelling, awareness, and advocacy.
