MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine College of Criminology (PCCR) embraced the holiday spirit with a series of celebrations, bringing together students, employees, and leaders to mark the end of a successful 2024. From the Tree Lighting Ceremony to the Student Leaders’ Year-End Celebration and the Great Gatsby-themed Employees’ Christmas Party, the PCCR community reflected on the year’s achievements, strengthened bonds, and looked ahead to a promising 2025.
Lighting Up the Christmas Spirit
The Christmas Season was ushered in with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 2, 2024, at the Justice Felix Angelo Bautista (JFAB) Lobby. The event was opened by the PCCR Lakas Dancers and the PCCR Chorale. Council of Student Leaders (CSL) President Andrew Sanchez encouraged everyone to “spread kindness and be a light in the lives of others.”
Chairman Paul Victor Villegas reminded the community of Christmas as a season of giving and compassion, while President Ma. Angelica Lei Bautista highlighted the importance of hope and faith in her video message. As she led the countdown, the grand Christmas tree illuminated the JFAB Lobby, officially marking the start of the season. The event also featured performances from Jhenabie Joy Bravo and the PCCR Pop Band.
Student Leaders Celebrate a Year of Success
On December 14, 2024, the Council of Student Leaders (CSL) hosted its Year-End Celebration, bringing together various student organizations to highlight a year of collaboration and accomplishments. With a “Barbie and Ken” theme, attendees dressed in stylish ensembles, embracing the fun and playful theme of the evening.
Marko Wilson Burog and Rosedna Cabonetalla were crowned Ken and Barbie of the Night. Student leaders expressed appreciation for the support of their peers and reaffirmed their dedication to fostering unity and excellence in the coming year.
PCCR Employees Shine in a ‘Great Gatsby’ Christmas Party
Capping off the holiday festivities, the Employees’ Christmas Party took place on December 18, 2024, at Oasis Manila. With a Great Gatsby theme, employees arrived in 1920s-inspired outfits, turning the venue into a dazzling spectacle of glamour and celebration.
Beyond the entertainment, the evening honored employees’ dedication through three major recognitions:
- Top Student Referrers – The “Bayanihan sa PCCR” referral program, launched in 2021, has brought in nearly a thousand enrollees. The top 10 student referrers for 2024 were recognized for their role in expanding PCCR’s academic community.
- Service Awards – Employees who have dedicated five to twenty-four years to PCCR were honored for their unwavering commitment. President Lei Bautista expressed gratitude, stating, “Your dedication inspires us to strive for excellence. You are the backbone of PCCR’s success.”
- President’s Award – Twenty individuals were recognized for exceptional contributions in academic leadership, research, innovation, and student services.
With lively performances, speeches of gratitude, and a strong sense of unity, the night capped off the holiday season with joy and gratitude.
